Is it possible for sports fan to give up college football?

P.U. to the P.A. and The Touchdown Jesus Temptation….

This college football embargo is making my life difficult. I’m REALLY trying not to pay attention to college football, but it’s unavoidable.  A week ago, when Central Michigan (Fire Up Chips!) played against my Alma Mater Michigan State University, I had to work a high school football game and I would be in the clear. However, while setting up camera equipment, cables, etc.., the P.A. system decided to blur out classic rock music. I was initially happy because setups usually involve very quiet to silent atmosphere and music makes the work easier, but someone had to change the dial. The played the MSU/CMU (Fire Up Chips!) game throughout the entire field! Despite my embargo, it’s hard to temper my excitement as MSU had a massive lead over the Chips (Fire Up Chips!)

After the game and throughout the week, my Facebook wall stories were basically in this pattern…

MSU is great, MSU, College Football, MSU, picture of food, meme picture, MSU, College Football, and Norte Dame sucks.

The challenge continues to get tougher as I’m not a fan of Norte Dame and the MSU is winning.

Labor Pains….

Labor day weekend came and pass, the college football embargo is holding strong. Since MSU wanted to get the limelight, they started their season on a Friday night. Fortunately for me, I had to work and record high school football. However, avoiding the highlights is insanely difficult.  On Facebook, I only saw this picture 9 times.

The next day, I had more work to do, but before I headed off, I gave a friend a call to wish him a Happy Birthday.
When the subject of the game came up. The conversation went like this:

Friend: “Did you see the game last night?”

Me: “No, I’m trying to avoid college football and not watch it for the year.”

Friend: “Well I don’t care, the game was awesome.”

Than he went into detail for 9 minutes about the game.

So after work, I headed to the woods away from the MSU talk and Michigan/Alabama game. However after reaching to the up north property, I ran into family members were saddened by the Michigan game. I normally would kick them while they are down with smartass lines about the game. Do you know how hard that is?!?!

Anyway, the embargo continues and gets more difficult as MSU head to Central Michigan, where I’m missing a drunken fun time. Crap.
