Since college football is not full swing, however, I still have things to “complain” about. I noticed on ESPN/Fox/NBC/Learning channel have been playing practices/scrimmages of major football powerhouses. First I would have to check on your sanity to be able to sit through that and then I question why are these networks are showing this? Besides that it’s program filler, it shows that these networks are willing to spend money to broadcast these games to generate interest for more ratings and money. So can we stop that these athletes are amateurs? The networks/conferences/bowl games are no longer making off of the game, but PRACTICE!
However, all is not lost, instead of a silly system that uses computers, biased coaches, bowl games, and TV networks to pick a sports championship game, a playoff system is coming. An article from the Chicago Tribune (link), the powers that be are trying to figure a system out where they will actually settle a champion on the field.
Although a playoff system would be great, it seems that are too many different interests are involved, college football postseason will only get messier before it’s all said and done. So in the meantime, I’m not wasting my time on college football and finding better things to do.
